The material indicates an early origin for this piece, as does the method
of manufacture. The material is smooth and compacted, what we call
"padat", but there is distinct grain showing and without porosity, so we
are looking at something that has been around for a long time.

Close inspection shows a vestigal "putri kinurung" pamor in the sorsoran
which indicates that the method of manufacture was to forge weld the
material used for the hilt to the material used for the blade. This method
of affixing a tang, or a hilt figure was very early technology and permitted
economies of manufacture when ferric material, especially steel, was a
scarce and expensive item.                                    10.75"
