Item 107 A Sumatran Sewar, the blade is heavily patinated and has an iron
ferrule that forms the transition to the hilt which is of darkly chatoyant wood.
The scabbard is in complete and perfect condition and bears good patina.
This Sewar was purchased in the early 1970's from a Dutch gentleman who
came to Australia immediately after WWII, he claimed that this Sewar had
been brought back to Holland from the old Dutch East Indies by his great
grandfather some time during the 19th century. I believe this to be true as the
overall condition of the knife supports the story. During the time I have had
this knife it has not been subjected to any restoration, it is as I bought it.
Blade length 8.6" (215mm) overall length 12.75" (323mm) $150
