Keris 8 A Balinese keris with an 11 luk blade, bearing pamor wos wutah and
with a carving of Ganesha at the gandhik. The garap (workmanship) is of a high
standard and the pamor has been well managed.
The neatly sculpted Kekandikan wrongko is from kayu pelet bearing the sampir
motif and the gandar has a veneer of kayu pelet with the sampir motif.
The totogan danganan (hilt) is a superb sculpture of Ganesha executed in black
ebony, a wewer set with pastes is fitted. Ganesha is the deity of knowledge and
learning, the Disturber of Disturbances and the God to whom a devout Hindu
will pray before addressing prayers to another deity or before beginning some
new undertaking, but he is also the God who ensures victory in battle. There have
been Ganesha cults in both Jawa and Bali for hundreds of years, and these still
