Keris 5 A keris with a straight (lurus) blade, dhapur is Tilam Sari, pamor is
Wengkon, classification is Mataram, estimated period is first half 19th century.
This is a robust old blade of very good quality and in good condition.
The old kayu pelet wrongko is attributed to Banyumas, it is original to the blade
and is fitted with an old silver pendok embossed with an alas-alasan motif
depicting serpents and birds in a forest.
The old Central Javanese planar hilt is complete with a heavy silver selut
ornamented with fine braided wire work and set with mirah and yakut, the silver
kendit mendak is also set with mirah and yakut.
This keris was purchased from a Dutch gentleman who migrated from Holland to
Australia as a child, following World War II. This keris had been in his family
since the mid-1800's. The blade and all components of this keris are of very good
quality, it is an old keris in its original dress, it has had minimum restoration and
it bears the evidence of age.
