Keris 23 An East Javanese keris of 9 luk (waves) and bearing pamor Adeg
Sapu. This is an old keris, the besi is similar to the type we find in a
Majapahit keris, and it does have a boto adeg blumbangan, but it cannot be
be classified as Majapahit because the balance of indicators will not permit
this. I estimate age as 1800 or before.
The wrongko is a Ladrangan in the Kadipaten Sepuh style, it is fitted with a
pendok deeply embossed with the Sekar Anggrek motif, and on its reverse,
the symbol of the Surakarta Kraton.
The Solo planar hilt has an additional panel of carving under the patra
pinaji and is fitted with an old copper parijoto mendak.
This keris was acquired in Solo, Central Java during the 1980's.
Blade length 15.1" (383mm) overall length 19.9" (505mm) $190
