This is a finely carved North Coast hilt that appears to use
the "capped figure" motif, the execution of the cap in this
case is not typical but I cannot see an alternative
interpretation. If we are looking at a capped figure, then
this hilt is possibly intended to represent Panji, the
culture hero, which would be a very fitting choice for a
protective hilt guardian. With stand. Estimated age,
second half 20th century.
